Aikido - Introduction to a peaceful systems of self defence (Part 2)

Δράση του Trade School Athens, υποστηριζόμενη από το Animus Coprus.

Aikido is a Japanese self-defence system of martial arts that is based on using your own (internal) power in a clever way, so that an effective defence does not need to depend on the use of physical strength! Bring with you comfortable gym clothes so that we can practice and make sure that there are no serious health problems. The lesson starts with warming up and proceeds with learning balancing and unbalancing exercises as well as some very basic techniques of unlocking/freeing oneself from grips or difficult situations.

About the teacher:

Vasiliki Kantzara - Koutroutsiou

The study of aikido: I started it more than 20 years ago in the Netherlands. In Athens, I helped to start, and later co-founded the society named, ‘Aikido School Athens’ in Maroussi in 2005. Being a trained sociologist it seems strange for some to be busy with martial arts; for me, aikido has been an eye opener as to the multiple ways to act in the world including the protection of oneself without having to resort to violence or to expect the government to change. The kind of teaching I am interested into, attempts to bring together and bridge philosophical principles and practical aspects in a manner easily understood by everyone, child or adult. All these, I would like to share in my teaching with all the people, who are interested to learn another or a different way of looking at things, as well as at oneself and his/her relation to the ‘world’.
